Jay Galloway | President, Hood Industries, Inc.

Jay Galloway has served as the President of Hood Industries, Inc. since 2016.

After receiving his degree in Business from Lipscomb University in 1987, Jay began his career with Hood Industries at the Waynesboro, MS sawmill where he was responsible for green end quality control, plant HR, and safety.

Over his initial 21 years with Hood Industries Jay held several positions within Manufacturing - including Plant Manager (Waynesboro facility), Lumber Division Manufacturing Manager, and Procurement Manager.

In 2007, Jay left Hood Industries to become the President of Tolleson Lumber Company, an independent company headquartered in Perry, Georgia. Tolleson Lumber was acquired by Illim Timber of St. Petersburg, Russia in 2011. Jay remained with Illim Timber for one year after the transition before starting his own company, JNG Enterprises.

From 2012 – 2016, Jay consulted within the forest products industry and operated two small logistics businesses before returning to Hood Industries.

Darrin Martin joined Hood Industries, Inc. in August 2006. His tenure began as Director of Sales & Marketing for the Distribution division and transitioned into the role of Regional Manager. Since late 2015, Darrin has held his current role of Vice President with direct responsibility for the Distribution operations.

Before joining Hood Industries, Inc., Darrin was employed with Jeld-Wen, Inc. where he spent time in the door & window operations as well as Paxton – The Wood Source in various management and branch management roles.

Darrin is a graduate of Texas A&M University with a BBA in Business Management.

Early in his career, Darrin completed management training programs with Payless Cashways, Inc., Jeld-Wen, Inc., and Paxton – The Wood Source.

Darrin has continued his personal & professional development throughout his career including leadership programs facilitated by Dr. Bob Brewer and Integrity Coaching through Richard James & Partners, the University of Industrial Distribution at Indiana University & Purdue University, obtaining a Certificate in Business Management from the Raymond A. Mason School of Business at William & Mary.

Most recently, Darrin completed a Certificate in Executive Business Management from the Owen Graduate School of Management at Vanderbilt University with emphases in Strategy & Operations, Finance & Accounting, Strategic Innovation, and Strategic Leadership.

Chris Norris has been with Hood Distribution since October 2005 and currently serves as Director of Operations.

From 2005 - 2015, Chris held the position of Director of Procurement where he directed multi-location purchasing and inventory management for all locations while also holding direct responsibility for six of our distribution locations as a Regional Manager.

Prior to his tenure with Hood Distribution, Chris graduated with a B.S. in Marketing & Business Administration from Louisiana Tech University (1995). Following graduation, he entered the hardwood distribution industry in a sales role with JT Shannon Lumber Distributors. Transitioning out of sales, Norris managed the Hogan Hardwoods’ Baton Rouge, LA location from 2000-2002, then served as Regional Manager of Hogan Hardwoods Distribution for 3 years.

Over the years, Chris has continued his professional and personal development, earning several certifications - University of Industrial Distribution (Indiana University & Purdue University), Standing Timber Management Certification (Louisiana Tech University), and Hardwood Grade Lumber Certification (Louisiana Tech University). Additional development was sought through leadership programs facilitated by Dr. Bob Brewer and Integrity Leadership training led by Richard James & Partners.

Bee Jay Squires joined the Hood Distribution team in October 2007. He currently serves as our Regional Manager overseeing our 8 Southern locations.

Bee Jay began his tenure at Hood Distribution as the Operations Manager for the Mobile, AL facility. During his time in Mobile, he oversaw the start-up of Hood Distribution’s first value-added rough mill operation. In January 2012 he transitioned to Outside Sales, covering South Mississippi, New Orleans, and Baldwin County, Alabama.

In April 2013 Bee Jay assumed the position of Branch Manager of our Nashville, TN facility where he oversaw the implementation of Hood Distribution’s second rough mill and first laminated panel press operation.

Bee Jay’s career began in 2002 with Paxton – The Wood Source as a Management Trainee and Operations Manager. In 2006, Bee Jay became a Residential Construction Manager for McGuire Home Builders in Austin, TX.

Bee Jay graduated from Texas A&M University with a BS in Agricultural Development in 2002. He has since continued his personal & professional development with leadership programs facilitated by Dr. Bob Brewer, Integrity Coaching through Richard James & Partners, and earning a Professional Certificate from the University of Industrial Distribution (Indiana University & Purdue University).

Allen Smith has had an impressive 37-year tenure with Hood Distribution. He currently works as Regional Manager, overseeing 8 of our Distribution branches.

Allen began his career with Hood Distribution as an Outside Sales Rep for the Nashville, TN location before progressing to Operations Manager in 1992. In January 1996, an opportunity arose for Allen to become the Louisville, KY Branch Manager. He served in that capacity for 20 years before transitioning to his current role of Regional Branch Manager.

Allen’s many years of experience in the industry was propelled by a bachelor’s degree in Business from Western Kentucky University (1985).

Allen has had the opportunity to grow personally and professionally during his time with Hood Distribution through various training and coaching classes. Most recently he has completed a course on “Becoming More Effective Leaders” and Integrity Coaching through Richard James & Partners.
