General Characteristics
Spruce is a member of the pine family and is closely related to fir. Spruce machines relatively well and maintains excellent stability.
The heartwood is light tan to reddish brown, with sapwood being off-white.
Typical Applications
Spruce is used extensively in structural framing applications. It is also utilized in exterior painted trim and is an excellent choice for hobbyists.
