General Characteristics
Often called “Bulletwood,” Torem Extreme is your best alternative to Ipe — delivering exceptional durability, dense grain, and deep, reddish-brown tones with occasional streaks. With physical properties rivaling Ipe, including a crushing strength of 17,330 psi and a Janka hardness of 2,842, this hardwood offers remarkable resistance to decay, fungi, and insects (Durability Class 2). Each board features four smooth surfaces, is kiln-dried and graded Clear 2 Face – Reversible, and weathers over time to a uniform gray patina. Torem’s fine to very fine texture results in a sleek finish when planed, and it contains little to no silica, making it workable with modern tools. Its combination of aesthetics, structural integrity, and durability makes it ideal for premium outdoor projects. Pre-drilling is recommended for best installation results.
